Would you like to strengthen your prayer life, enhance your devotion to Mary and joyfully touch Jesus in Scripture?
Please join us as we do so and follow the model Mary gives us for lectio divina in The Annunciation, humbly listening with the
“ear of our hearts”, God-willing.

God-willing, we will gather
to learn how to read and pray Sacred Scripture, learning to hear God speak to us today, just as the saints have done for centuries. After covering the basics of lectio, we will practice together with
John 4, the Water of Life Discourse, where Jesus waits for us beside The Well to listen and converse with Him. Please come join us, whether as a beginner or
as a refresher, anyone and any age!

Using the Augustine Institute’s Lectio Study
Video Series featuring Dr. Tim Gray, God-willing, we will gather to learn how to read and pray Sacred Scripture, just as the saints have done for centuries. Whether as a beginner or
as a refresher, anyone and any age, all are invited! You are welcome to attend for just one session or all six. However, it is recommended to attend all 6-weeks, if possible, as each week dives deeper into each step of lectio.

Let’s sit beside Jesus, from the shores of Galilee to the Upper Room, and listen to Him explain the Eucharist to us directly in His Words.
God-willing, after an introduction and overview on lectio divina, we will prayerfully listen, read and reflect on John 6, the Bread of Life Discourse.

FAQ

Typically, Sisters of the Word serves a parish by leading one of our lectio presentations open to all. A sample of different timeframes are seen in the following options to fit various schedules: from the half-day Lectio Eucharistic Retreat to the six-week sessions of the Augustine Institute’s Lectio: Prayer to the single 90-minute Lectio: Mary, The Annunciation session.
God-willing,

  • Sisters of the Word can additionally lead: Lectio for Lent and Lectio Lights for Advent. In both sessions, we put into practice lectio divina of the Sunday readings for the corresponding seasons, as a group (collatio). Typically, we meet for one hour weekly.
  • We provide all the marketing pieces and registration (if necessary) for any of these lectio presentations, in addition to facilitating the sessions.
  • We can also tailor the lectio event to the needs of the parish, whether it is a ministry group talk or retreat or parish-wide or catechist-focused, including lectio leader training.
  • In regards to scheduling, depending on availability, we can and have accommodated day and/or evening sessions, as needed.
